IWM 'Social Interpretation' iPhone and Android App Announcement

We are proud to announce Gooii are developing an exciting new iPhone and Android app, for the Imperial War Museum’s ‘Social Interpretation’ project.

The app, programmed natively for each device, starts with a QR code scanned from within the museum space. Once an object is scanned, information about that artifact is loaded into the handset, which the visitor can then comment on, collect and share via the IWM website, Twitter and Facebook.

Connecting Dance is an innovative new website that aims to unite the dance world and make it easier for everyone interested in dance to find out about dance schools, dance groups and dancers.

Using the existing Connecting Dance corporate identity, the site was designed and programmed entirely in-house and features an events calendar, integrated Facebook app, news system, advertising facility and a powerful search interface. Since 1994, The SUPERMAN HOMEPAGE has been the first website that fans of the Man of Steel have looked toward when it comes to exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes reports, previews, reviews, and just about anything you'd ever need to know about the world's first and greatest superhero. The Superman Homepage is the number one ranked superman fan site in the world and is now available as a fantastic iPhone and iPod Touch app.

Designed and programmed entirely in-house for the Apple iPhone, the app features dynamically loaded news pulled direct from the main website, as well YouTube videos, audio podcasts and the ability to share items to Twitter and Facebook.

The Royal Museums Greenwich (RMG) is the largest institution of its kind in the world, with over 2,000,000 items related to seafaring, navigation and astronomy in its care. We are committed to improving public access to these collections and the expansion of online access forms a key part in this policy. Gooii were commisioned to produced a custom website and content management system, with Google Web Toolkit Widgets. Gooii also programmed the interactive touch screen pods, that can be found in the 'Sammy Ofer' wing at the Greenwich Museum. To view the site visit: collections.rmg.co.uk

The British Heart Foundation are the nation's heart charity. Their vision is a world where people don't die prematurely from heart disease, with an aim to achieving this through pioneering research, vital prevention activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.

This is a site about heroes but you won't find Batman or the Incredible Hulk here, you'll find people who really did exist and made their mark on history.

Built using a bespoke content management system, all programming, design and illustration was produced entirely in-house. The website, aimed at 11-14 year olds, features information, quizes, a 'Speech Maker' application and Flash activities. Gooii are proud to have developed and launched the 'Climate Action Tracker' website, to coincide with the 'UN Climate Change Conference' being held in Durban during November/December 2011.

The site is an independent science-based assessment, which tracks the emission commitments and actions of UN countries. Providing up-to-date assessment of individual national pledges, the website is designed to help users reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. 'Apps for Children with Special Needs', or 'A4CWSN' as they are often better known, are a community committed to providing parents and educators with more information about Apps for the iPad and other such devices, that can benefit children with special needs in the home and school environment. Veronika Walshe is an administrator for the A4CWSN Australia Facebook page and here’s what she had to say about The ‘Fab-Phonics’ series of apps:

“Up, Up and Away is a wonderful app, I use it daily. This is the first one I brought and I brought the others soon after. My child just loves it, and there is a bit of humour in it as well - which always gets a laugh. Scottish universities hold a high proportion of Scotland’s nationally important collections – more than 1.8 million items. The Revealing the Hidden Collections website gives information about all the material through almost 2000 detailed descriptions of collections and an increasing number of records of individual items and collections, making available all records through a single search maintained by the Culture Grid. Gooii have upgraded the NEN Gallery for E2BN. The new version has a wider format but retains the much loved look and feel. Underneath the hood we have re-engineered the whole thing to make it faster and more expandable. It also has some great new features including a JSON API for external developers to use and a customisable widget which can be used to embed the gallery in external sites.

An expanded 'My albums' for logged in users has made it even easier to upload images, tag and organise them. With 20,000 high quality images free for educational use, the NEN Gallery is a great free resource containing features that can be re-used and integrated into other resources worldwide. Everybody deserves to have a healthy relationship with love, trust, good communication, shared interests, privacy, fun, laughter, loyalty, compliments, compromise and equality. This website looks at the healthy and non-healthy aspects of relationships, safety issues and provides support.

Gooii were commissioned to design and program the site for the Nottingham based NDVF, which included a bespoke Content Management System and Flash games and was produced in consultation with young people in Nottinghamshire.

Collections Connect is a fast software solution, which extracts records and media from an institution’s existing systems, such as Collections Management Systems (CMS), Digital Asset Management Systems (DAM) or even spreadsheets and presents them in a web ready form for publishing online. As Collections Connect is separate to the CMS you can use it to augment or change metadata before it is shown to web users, without changing the original curatorial records in the CMS.
